How to Measure for a Dress
What You Need:
✔️ A flexible measuring tape
✔️ A mirror or a friend for assistance
✔️ Wear fitted clothing or undergarments
Key Measurements:
- Bust – Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight. Write it down before measuring the next part.
- Waist – Find your natural waist (the narrowest part of your torso usually around your belly button) and measure around it. Make a note
- Hips – Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
- Shoulder Width – Measure straight across from one shoulder’s edge to the other.
- Sleeve Length (if applicable) – Measure from the shoulder down to the desired sleeve length.
- Hollow to Hem – Measure from the base of your neck (hollow) to the hem of the dress, depending on your desired length.
- Inseam (for gowns with slits) – Measure from the crotch to the floor for the perfect length.
